The summer is the perfect time to sit out in your backyard, deck or patio and enjoy the warm weather. Homeowners who are looking to spruce up their outdoor space have a lot of options and much room to be creative. Here at Eagleson Landscape Co., we have built many an outdoor living space, each unique to the homeowner and their needs or desires. Some of our clients want a large patio to entertain; others are looking for a small, cozy place to relax, read a book, or enjoy a small fire. Here we have gleaned several ideas from our projects that you can consider adding to your outdoor living space design:
Outdoor Living Room:
For those who love to throw parties and host family gatherings, an outdoor living room, complete with seating and even a TV, may be the option you are looking for. For our clients who wanted a large space to entertain in next to their pool, we built a patio, pergola pillars and fireplace out of sturdy travertine. A room like this is the perfect place for hosting company, and all outside in the fresh air.
Patio Details:
A patio can be far from looking like a flat square. Steps, walls, pillars and a little imaginative paver-laying can all be components that create the look and use you desire. Here our client was creating a gorgeous period-style backyard will pillars, sculptures and many other interesting features. We built her patio according to the symmetrical style she was putting together.
Here we added steps with travertine stone risers up to our client’s door. The attention to detail we put into these steps was our way of adding more interest and flair to the entryway, and made a better transition between the house and patio.
You may have a great patio, but if the surrounding landscape is bland, you may still not enjoy it much. Our client not only wanted us to build her patio, but she also wanted us to create a beautiful landscape that would go along with it. We already knew the look she was going for, so it was easy for us to incorporate a landscape design that would complement her hardscape and make quite the view for her patio.
A completely unique patio is very possible. All it takes is a knowledgeable designer and the right contractor. This particular client was design-savvy, and we collaborated with her to build an intricate, stunning patio of her own brainchild.
Walls are not only for decoration. Below we built low walls around a patio that can also double as more seating. It’s an easy way to add more space for people, especially if you have a smaller patio that would be hard to cram many chairs onto.
Paths:
Not all patios or features have to look built. Here we used large natural stones for an uncut look on this stone path around the side of a home. Though simple, it serves as a mud-free way to get around the yard, and it is a little different than your average paver path.
