Plant of the Week – Hyacinth

This weeks plant of the week is all about smell.  The garden is a wonderful place to walk through and use ALL five senses.  We will of course enjoy the visual beauty, but let’s talk about a plant that will make you stop, sit and enjoy one spot just to smell a sweet aroma.  Who needs air fresheners when you can plant this weeks plant of the week the Hyacinth!Hyacinth in Purple and Pink

A wonderful spring flower the hyacinth has stunning blooms and a wonderful scent.  Plant these low growing perennials around a deck or patio where they will get full sun to get the most out of them.  Hyacinth are perfect landscape additions with a huge variety of color options and easy maintenance needs.  Plant the hyacinth bulbs in the fall about 4 inches deep and water thoroughly.   When spring time arrives you will be greeted with an explosion of color and fragrance!  Best planted in masses or in containers these little flowers sum up what is best about the spring season.
