Plant of the Week – Russian Sage

This week the mornings have been crisp, refreshing and invigorating.  The afternoons have in turn been warm, breezy and bright.  Fall is a wonderful season, so let’s celebrate with a perennial that blooms brilliantly throughout the fall.  The Plant of the Week this week is Perovskia atriplicifolia or Russian Sage.Russian Sage in Bloom

This full sun perennial grows three to five feet tall and has an airy appearance.  When in bloom its lavender flower spike form a pillow of color atop their foliage.  Being low maintenance and highly tolerable of drought and planting conditions make it a great plant for a gardener of any experience level.  Perfect for a border garden, containers and many other landscape situations.  Russian Sage is a wonderful plant that can accent a garden in the late summer and fall.  Eagleson Landscape Co. highly recommends this to any customer or gardener trying to get year round garden interest.
