Plant of the Week – Windflower

Its officially hurricane season here in Indiana, so far I have lost a glove and some paperwork to the perilous gales battering our state.  Underneath four layers of warm cocoon my brain has been thinking up a new plant for this weeks Plant of the Week.  It took some time to get my brain thawed, but once it fired up the plant was easy to choose!  This weeks plant is Anemone sylvestris ‘Snowdrop’ or the Windflower.Windflower Mass

A wonderful perennial, with interesting foliage and a simple white flower.  The Windflower blooms in late spring to early summer providing wonderful early season color to the landscape.  Its mounding habit and tall flower stems make it a great mid-range height addition to any garden.  Perfect for full or part sun and needing only moderate watering makes it easy to take care of and enjoy!  The Windflower’s flower will attract butterflies, giving it an added element of enjoyment!  Once the flowers are done, they are replaced by interesting hairy seedpods that give the plant longevity in your landscape.
